印度英語裡的「tenth standard」是什麼意思？

印度英語用 standard 稱呼年級，美式英語說 grade，英式英語說 year。所以 tenth standard 就是美式的 10th grade，twelfth standard 就是 12th grade。這兩個年級在印度格外重要：學生在 Class X 和 Class XII 結束時要參加全國或各邦的會考（CBSE、ICSE 或各邦考試）。Class XII 的成績決定能上哪間大學、能走什麼職業路徑，甚至常影響家庭安排的聯姻對象。印度家庭會為這兩場大考規劃好幾年。
