لطیفه (latifeh) 是波斯語的「笑話」或「機智軼事」。經典形式是短篇故事，常以真實歷史人物為主角（納賽爾丁·沙、穆拉·納斯雷丁、巴赫盧），結尾用笑點反轉權力關係：國王變成笑柄，聰明平民全身而退。收錄這類 لطیفهها 的書籍在伊朗書店至今仍是暢銷書。
這則 لطیфе 講的是伊朗卡加王朝的納賽爾丁·沙在伊斯法罕看見一個滿臉煤灰的賣炭翁，半開玩笑地問：「تا جهنم بودهای؟」（你去過地獄嗎？）。賣炭翁回答：去過，你的隨從都在那兒。被追問有沒有看見沙阿本人在內，他機智化解殺身之禍說：「من تا ته جهنم نرفتم」（我沒有一直走到地獄最底層）。
