What does “machucada” mean in Spanish?
Machucar means to squash, crush, or bruise something by pressing or hitting it — a bumped fruit left with a soft brown spot, or in this clip, a burger that arrived nothing like its photo: me la hicieron toda machucada, “they gave it to me all squashed.” The word paints a much more specific picture than a generic “broken” or “damaged” — it’s the look of something flattened under real pressure.
Machucar shares its meaning with machacar, and both extend easily to bumps and bruises on people too — te machucaste el dedo means you smashed or pinched your finger, say in a door. Whether it’s a strawberry left under something heavier in the fridge or a fast-food order that clearly got sat on, machucado/machucada is the word for damage from pressure, not from breaking apart.
